Boulder Cliff

CAPE TOWN - SOUTH AFRICA

Single Residential

Set in Bantry Bay, the brief called for a holiday retreat that celebrates the beautiful ocean and mountain vistas.

The design used materials like wood, cement, local stone, and poplar, paying homage to Cape Town and Africa’s rugged landscape. Central to the design is an original Cape boulder, around which the house is built, showcasing raw elements.

Oriented towards the sea, two guest wings use ocean and sandy tones, while those facing the mountain use earthy terracotta shades. Across three floors, the first floor’s garden wing blends seamlessly with lush greenery. The interiors use a mix of local antiques, Cape Dutch chairs, contemporary touches, clay pots and African artefacts to make this home a true fusion of African heritage and modern luxury.

in the master bedroom we used a natural colour palette complimented with a combination of textures.
Natural textures bring a layer of warmth to the space, while large windows allow ample natural light in.
